The police in the state of Assam in north-eastern India are calling him a ‘cereal burglar.’
After all, this man was caught because he was cooking food at the house he had allegedly gone to rob.
Neighbors reportedly summoned the police when they heard noise at this house, whose owners were away.
The ‘cereal burglar’ tag
The Assam Police recently wrote on their official Twitter handle: “The curious case of a cereal burglar!”
They went on to explain: “Despite its many health benefits, turns out, cooking Khichdi during a burglary attempt can be injurious to your well being.”
Khichdi is an Indian dish cooked with rice and lentils. Various states and regions have different ways of preparing it.
The police added in the tweet: “The burglar has been arrested and @GuwahatiPol is serving him some hot meals.”
The reference was to the cops in Guwahati, the largest city in the state of Assam.

What transpired?
Local reports said the arrested man had targeted a house in the Hengerabari area of Guwahati because the homeowners were away.
The neighbors knew that fact. That is why they were surprised when they heard sounds from the kitchen of the house.
They alerted the local police, who then came and arrested the burglar. The local reports did not divulge the identity of the man.
