Music composer Shekhar Ravjiani was on Friday, November 15, trolled on Twitter over an exorbitant bill for egg whites.
Ravjiani, one-half of the Bollywood music composer duo Vishal Shekhar, had posted a bill showing he was charged Rs 1,672 for three egg whites.
The bill was from the Hyatt Regency in Ahmedabad, and showed the actual bill for the eggs was Rs 1,350.
The Central and state components of the Goods and Services Tax, along with a service charge, took it up to Rs 1,672.

However, Twitter users were not very sympathetic. They pointed out that even the simplest of foods cost a bomb at five-star hotels like the Hyatt Regency.
Some saw the lighter side of it. They asked whether the eggs belonged to dinosaurs, or were made of gold. Some others asked him to “help the dwindling economy” of the country by paying the bill.
However, the overarching theme in most of the tweets was Ravjiani should not crib about the price because he had ordered something from a five-star hotel’s kitchen.

Rahul Bose redux?
People were also quick to remind others that what Ravjiani was facing was nothing new. Actor Rahul Bose was in July charged Rs 442 for just two bananas in Chandigarh.
Bose posted a 38-second video on Twitter trying to bring attention to the heavy bill. The video went viral in a matter of days.
The hotel in this instance was the JW Mariott in the Union Territory there. It came under the scanner of the local tax authorities because it apparently applied GST to fresh produce.
