A truck accident in the Zhejiang province in eastern China left a large stretch of the road slippery with yolks from broken eggs.
The accident took place on April 21 in the Quzhou City of the province. The semi-truck skidded on the road and spilt its load of 100,000 eggs.
The local authorities immediately set to work to clear the road. It reportedly took the local police, transport crew and sanitation workers close to two hours to clear the mess.
Broken eggs over 120m
A video shared by Chinese news outlet CGTN says the accident resulted in the broken eggs creating a mess across a stretch of 120 metres of the G60N Hangzhou-Jingdezhen Highway.
The estimated loss was said to be 85,000 yuan, or around $13,000. However, nobody was reported hurt in the accident.
Interestingly, this is not the only time an accident involving such large quantities of eggs on the roads of China in recent times.
According to the state-run People’s Daily of China, a truck carrying 35,000 eggs caught fire on July 25, 2015. The incident took place in the Sichuan province of the country.
The report said the fire had cooked 20,000 of the total eggs by the time firefighters brought it under control. The estimated loss was not mentioned in the report.
