Three men attacked a hotel-owner in the state of Tamil Nadu in India because he and his partner refused to give their gang free biryani last year.
The victim is one Maharajan, who ran a hotel at Thirumazhisai in Tirumallur with Arunachalapandian.
Local reports said one Arunachalapandian had also registered a police case against a gang member.
This had led to the cops arresting the individual under the Goondas Act
Biryani denied
On April 18 last year, a gang of four men asked Arunachalapandian to give them free biriyani for their “brother” Ebinezer alias Ebi.
The local reports said the police are investigating quite a few criminal complaints against Ebi.
Arunachalapandian and Maharajan told them there was no biriyani available because several orders were pending.
The gang members threatened them with dire consequences and left the place after taking his phone number.
An earlier attack
After Arunachalapandian reached home, he received a call from Ebi, who again threatened him.
Within a couple of minutes, an eight-member gang hurled petrol filled bottles at the house and damaged the hotel.
Based on a complaint from Arunachalapandian, the Thirumazhisai police arrested Ebinezer (34) and eight others.
Local reports identified them as Sathish (22), Velan (20), Tirupathy (21), Christopher (20), Palani (20), Bharathiraja (21), and Sathish (26).
Vicious assault
Since Ebinezer was apparently involved in several criminal cases and continued to indulge in other anti-social activities, he was detained under the Goondas Act.
However, three of his aides came to the hotel looking for Arunachalapandian on Sunday and spotted Maharajan.
Local reports said the trio chased him down and hacked him.
As people started gathering, the three reportedly escaped on bikes.
Maharajan was rushed to a private hospital where his condition remains to be critical.
The police have launched a hunt for the three.
