ITC Fabelle launches world’s costliest chocolate: Here’s how much it costs

ITC Fabelle, the luxury chocolate brand of Indian Tobacco Company, has launched the world’s costliest chocolate.

The candy, called Fabelle Trinity – Truffles Extraordinaire, was unveiled at a special ceremony on Tuesday, October 22.

The chocolate has officially been designated the costliest in the world by Guinness World Records (GWR).

What is Fabelle Trinity?

Fabelle Trinity is a creation of Chef Philippe Conticini. As the name suggests, truffles are one of its main ingredients.

ITC’s Chief Operating Officer for Chocolates, Confectionery, Coffee and New Categories – Food Division, Anuj Rustagi, explained to reporters how the chocolate came to be.

“After several months of R&D, we have delivered a product, in which India can take pride in and stayed committed in our constant endeavour of being at the forefront of introducing Indian consumers to distinct chocolate experiences,” he said at the unveiling.

Conticini, a Michelin-star chef of French origin, has curated three different flavours of the chocolate.

According to reports, the chocolate costs about Rs 4.4 lakh – Rs 440,000 or $6,100-6,200 – per kilogram.

The chocolate is a limited-edition presentation, and will reportedly be available on a made-to-order basis.

It is available in a hand-crafted wooden box, and has 15 pieces – each weighing about 15 gm. Each box costs Rs 1 lakh.

Conticini said of the creation: “It was such a pleasure to transmit my emotions and my experience across this project. I hope this creation will seduce you as it did to me.”
